A mother's journey. A mission to make a difference.

I've always had a natural instinct to nurture. As the eldest of twenty grandchildren, I've spent much of my life surrounded by children, and I've always found joy in creating warm, caring environments where little ones can thrive.

But it was becoming a mum myself that truly shaped the direction of my life and, eventually, my business.

Where it all began

My journey into motherhood wasn't quite the picture-perfect experience I'd imagined. After working as a school photographer, I continued working right up until my due date with my second child. My first, Jarvis, had arrived two weeks late, so I knew babies had their own ideas about timing!

Life was busy, and we had our fair share of challenges. After living with our in-laws for five months, we finally moved into our new home when my daughter Jemimah was just four weeks old. We were excited to start this new chapter, but the house was far from finished, and the nursery I'd dreamed of creating was still a work in progress.

I had visions of a beautiful animal-themed nursery, filled with lovely bedding, thoughtful décor and all those little finishing touches that make a room feel special. But finding everything I wanted in one place was surprisingly difficult. Between juggling a newborn, navigating a cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) and trying to settle into our new home, even shopping for nursery essentials felt overwhelming.

And then came the sleepless nights.

Nine months that changed everything

For almost nine months, I struggled with broken sleep while trying to understand what was affecting Jemimah. At night, she would wheeze and sound as though she had a phlegmy chest. I can still remember how she sounded — a little like Darth Vader!

As her mum, I desperately wanted answers. I wanted to understand what was happening and find ways to make things better for her.

I began looking more closely at the things around her, including the bedding she slept in every night. When we switched to certified bedding, I noticed a change that I will never forget. Jemimah stopped wheezing and making those Darth Vader noises at night.

I couldn't ignore that experience. Although I couldn't know for certain what had made the difference, it prompted me to question the materials used in the products we bring into our children's sleeping environments.

I started researching fabrics, textile certifications and the information available to parents when choosing nursery products. I wanted to understand more about what went into the things touching my children's skin and how I could make more informed choices for my family.

I wasn't a textile expert. I was simply a mum looking for answers.

But that experience opened my eyes, and it became the beginning of something much bigger.

The birth of Rockermumma

Alongside my growing interest in materials and textile certifications, I could see another problem that needed solving.

Why was it so difficult to find beautiful nursery products together in one place? Why did creating a lovely nursery involve so much searching, comparing prices and ordering from different retailers, often paying multiple delivery fees along the way?

I knew how overwhelming it could feel to make decisions about your baby's environment when you were already exhausted and had a hundred other things to think about.

I wanted to make that experience easier for other parents.

And so, the seed of Rockermumma was planted.

What began as a personal idea grew into a business built around thoughtfully chosen nursery products, beautiful designs and a desire to help parents navigate the often overwhelming world of shopping for their little ones.

Over the years, my vision has continued to evolve. I've learnt more, questioned more and become increasingly passionate about helping parents understand the choices available to them, particularly when it comes to the materials used in nursery textiles.

From Rockermumma to Mamas Hub

Today, that journey continues through Mamas Hub.

Mamas Hub brings together the things I care about most: beautiful nursery décor, thoughtfully selected bedding and products that help parents create spaces they love for their children.

I'm particularly passionate about GOTS- and OEKO-TEX®-certified textiles because I believe parents deserve clear information about the products they buy and the standards behind them.

For me, it's about bringing together thoughtful design and more informed choices, without making the process any more complicated than it needs to be.

Motherhood has taught me that no two families are the same, and there is no single perfect way to parent. We all want to do the best we can with the information, time and resources available to us.

I know what it feels like to be an exhausted mum searching for answers in the middle of the night. I know how overwhelming it can be to navigate conflicting information while simply wanting to make the right choices for your children.

That's why Mamas Hub means so much more to me than selling nursery products.

More than a nursery shop

My hope is that Mamas Hub helps make choosing nursery products a little easier, bringing together beautiful pieces, considered materials and helpful information in one place.

I want parents to feel welcome, supported and confident in exploring their options, without judgement or pressure to get everything perfect.

My journey began with my own family, but the purpose behind Mamas Hub reaches far beyond it. If sharing my experience helps another mum ask a question, discover something new or feel a little more confident in the choices she's making, then telling my story is worthwhile.

Because behind every nursery is a family making a home, and behind every little person is a parent who wants the very best for them.

Mamas Hub grew from my experience as a mother, and my mission is to help other parents make more informed choices for their little ones.
